At Casa de Corazón
we are 1k for kids
At Casa de Corazón®, part of our mission is to provide socially responsible education to our children. One way we achieve this is by interacting and connecting with our surrounding communities through building partnerships and encouraging participation in our annual 1K For Kids event. We invite you to join us in this adventure as we continue our intercultural learning outside of the classroom!
2023 1K For Kids
This intercultural event has impacted more than 320 families and children are in countries such as the Dominican Republic, Peru, Guatemala, Colombia, Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and the United States. In the last 8 years, more than 5,000 people have walked or participated in this event in Minnesota & Wisconsin! Thanks to our families, sponsors, volunteers, and teachers, we have donated more than $139,000 to these countries and to the Mayo Clinic.
This year we are donating to the children of Honduras through NPH Honduras and NPH USA. NPH stands for “Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos” which is Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters.” This organization transforms the lives of vulnerable children in Latin America and the Caribbean through housing, health, and educational programs.
NPH USA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, Federal Tax ID# 65-122930
With your help we’re making an impact
“On behalf of the entire NPH Organization and the children we are privileged to care for, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to you (Jansel) and Casa de Corazón! Your amazing support and partnership will truly help transform lives through the gift of education. On behalf of these children, I cannot be more grateful! I hope to have the opportunity in Minnesota (or in one of our homes) to meet and express my gratitude in person.”– John Deinhart
“Your support allows us to treat patients, educate the next generation of medical leaders and conduct lifesaving research for the benefit of people everywhere. On behalf of patients near and far as well as the Mayo Clinic staff who work tirelessly to transform innovative ideas into reality, thank you for advancing hope — hope for scientific breakthroughs, for revolutionary treatments, and ultimately, for healing.”– Mayo Clinic
“Vivimos con mi hermana y sus tres hijos, vivimos muy apretados. Nos gusta que los niños se diviertan y jueguen, pero últimamente se enferman mucho por el contacto con la tierra mojada del suelo de la Casa. Ahora podrán jugar dentro de la nueva vivienda con un piso seguro gracias a Casa de Corazón.”– Family Barranco Llanos, Techo Colombia Team
“Thank you Casa de Corazón! Special thanks to the volunteers, families, sponsors, performing artists, and key members of the Casa de Corazón Community, that worked together to raise the funds in 2018, at the 1K for Kids, for TECHO- Guatemala with $17,672.38. You all contributed to the build of the homes for 12 of the families that had lost everything at the volcano eruption.”– Ana Maria Duque, Director of Community Experience at TECHO US
“Casa de Corazón nos ha ayudado a promover una sociedad justa y sin pobreza en el Perú!”– Patricia L. Tatis, CEO at TECHO US
“The founder of Quiéreme como soy (Love me as I am) Oscar Villanueva sends this greeting all the way from the Dominican Republic for the Casa de Corazón families that will attend our 1K for Kids event in July!”– Oscar Villanueva, CEO at Quiéreme Como Soy Dominican Republic
