We Are 1K For Kids at Casa de Corazón
For the Kids
At Casa de Corazón, part of our mission is to provide socially responsible education to our children. One way we achieve this is by interacting and connecting with our surrounding communities through building partnerships and encouraging participation in our annual 1K For Kids event. We invite you to join us in this adventure as we continue our intercultural learning outside of the classroom! Given the circumstances of our current social situation, we have decided to host a Virtual 1K For Kids this year.
Join us for the Virtual 1K For Kids on Saturday, July 25th!
Paso a Paso
Casa de Corazón has teamed up with Tretas Video and Hunter Johnson to bring you our official video and song featuring local and international people involved in the 1K For Kids event. View our official 2020 1K For Kids Video!
Changing Lives
During the past 4 years we have been able to change the lives of more than 20 families in Latin America with the 1K For Kids Event! Casa de Corazón and our participating families and sponsors have contributed to the countries of the Dominican Republic, Peru, Guatemala, and Columbia.
This year we are celebrating the 5th anniversary of the 1K For Kids and all proceeds will go to the Mayo Clinic for research and development surrounding COVID-19. We are so excited to celebrate with all of our families, teachers, volunteers, and collaborators. You have been a huge part of this beautiful 1K For Kids history, and we can’t wait to continue making a difference with you!
Why do we walk for kids?
Walking has so much meaning. For us, its most important meanings are health, family time, enjoyment of nature, and celebration. 1K For Kids is a 1-kilometer walk with your children, family, and friends. It is an opportunity to connect with the other families of Casa de Corazón, and also to make an impact on the research and development regarding COVID-19. All of this aligns with our core values of Healthy and Holistic Impact, Perpetual Growth, and Extended Family.

2019
“Vivimos con mi hermana y sus tres hijos, vivimos muy apretados. Nos gusta que los niños se diviertan y jueguen, pero últimamente se enferman mucho por el contacto con la tierra mojada del suelo de la Casa. Ahora podrán jugar dentro de la nueva vivienda con un piso seguro gracias a Casa de Corazón.”
– Family Barranco Llanos, Techo Colombia Team
