“Twenty years ago, people questioned if exposing children to a second language would delay verbal development. No one believes that now. Most of the world’s developed countries incorporate bilingual education. In fact, more than half of the world’s population is bilingual. Research shows that bilingualism increases mental flexibility, giving kids better imaginations, and that math skills and spatial-relational intelligence are developed to a higher level. Children who learn foreign languages exhibit social, emotional, and relational intelligence, like the ability to empathize with people who are different. Learning another language builds self-esteem and creativity and provides a head start in today’s increasingly global society.” – Natalie Standridge
